It can be hard to listen to ourselves when we have such busy minds.

It can be a challenge to listen deeply. To hear what is trying to lead us into balance, and remind us what it feels like to be whole and authentic, can get lost in the pushing and proving of ego.

Sometimes it is so easy to forget. We forget how to listen deeply to our inner world. For some, the avoidance of the inner world is a cause of great suffering. It takes a brave heart to dive into what lies beneath. It also requires divine timing and support. We come to knows things when we are ready to know them. And through self-awareness, we can act on things when we get the green light from our intuition.

This is where listening comes in. Prayer as well. Prayerful thoughts, devotional songs, and rituals can guide us into conscious listening. Devotional chanting, praying, and song, can quiet down the noise of our ego with all its wants and power. We can pray, sing and listen all at the same time. It may take some practice, but before long you will be hearing the song of your soul through your own mouth which creates a magic worth repeating. This repetition of song and prayer will create a better field for listening to your intuition. Create the field and your intuition will become a voice that you can hear anytime you need to hear it. The whole point of listening to yourself as you chant, pray or sing, is to remember that we have all the answers and healing inside of us. We need only take small actions creating the field for us to hear our intuition.

What happens when your intuition is butting heads with your ego? How can you tell the difference between these two voices?

I will give you a personal example. When I tune into my intuition, it tells me that I have another fairly introverted year ahead of me. It tells me that my focus should be on my property, learning to grow food and that the offerings, the work I do with the public, will be work that mostly just comes to me. I won't need to push to get clients. It tells me to get disciplined with my writing and to avoid pushing any sort of personal agenda that would see me out and about, teaching and making big plans. Intuition says, "Slow and steady Paddy. Juicy and slow. Watch when you are pushing, and come back into trust. I have a plan, you need to trust me. The richness is in the unfolding."

And here is what my Ego says, "You are a 500hr Kundalini Teacher as well and your other modalities, you are ready to teach again right now. You need to market yourself as the Spiritual teacher and healer that you are. You are experienced and more than ready. You can sell out retreats and events and should be pushing to make this happen now. You should be making more of a name for yourself. You are a huge light and you should show everyone just how bright you are."

Now my ego might not be wrong. I am all those things. I have worked really hard to make something of myself. I am a good teacher with lots to share. But the ego would have me prove it to you. My ego would have me push to gain recognition. My ego wants to show you that I am a big deal.

My Intuition is saying to trust, to take the humble a deep road of surrender. And on this road recognition may never come. I may be instead a healer and teacher that is an underground well-kept secret. Or maybe just a farmer!

You see if I listen, I am guided towards what is the right road for me to take. Maybe not the one I want. But in the end, I have no doubt that by listening along the way that I will be guided into the life that was meant for me.

Listening isn't easy. Especially when it says not to push when all you want to do is push. And that push could look like wanting to know what is next. It could look like wanting to know who you will end up with, or what you will be doing for a living, or where you will end up settling down and planting roots. It is in the pushing that the mind becomes loud. The push wants to know NOW when perhaps it's not yet time to know or do.

I am a firm believer that we know things when we need to and that we can not push healing and we can not push self-awareness. We can try. But all that will happen is that we become obsessed with perfection, and the ego ends up driving our lives.

We can help ourselves with healing practices that create the field and space for healing and awareness to come in, it is when we push for a goal around self-healing that we lose the plot. Sure the goal could be to experience less pain in the body. But getting there may look like rest and tenderness and healing perfectionism. It could look like exercising for pleasure rather than ripped abs. When the goal changes to proving and wanting recognition rather than being a good deep listener, we have again lost the plot.

I have found that when intuition is guiding us to be more low key, surrender into ritual, and prayer, it is telling us that we have more integration work to do. Without integration, we are a shallow version of ourselves. We get stuck in push and avoidance, seeking approval and power.

Integration is always lead by intuition. It knows when we need to grow deeper roots, and when an embodiment experience is needed before moving on. The integration allows for wholeness and authenticity. And authenticity is where it's at if you ask me. When you are YOU, that will allow pure magnetism to occur. Then there is no push. There is flow. Flow and purpose. Then you won't care about proving yourself. You are yourself and your expression of that is art.

It is so easy to forget we have access to deep wisdom, in this loud world.

Accessing our inner well of wisdom is the practice of self-awareness. And listening is the practice. We can hear what the body needs, what the mind needs, and what the heart needs. We find our balance by walking on our own personal middle path road. How we walk on that path will be indicative of how we listen to either our intuition or our ego. And sometimes, when we are ready, intuition says GO, and let me tell you when intuition says go, there is no stopping you.

Noticing the language your ego uses. Notice what it wants. If it wants to prove and push and to be the best, then you may want to listen to your intuition. She may say surrender. And listening to her is the wiser choice in the end.

In revolution,

Patricia
