After each step in your personalized plan, we will touch base via email and discuss the next steps and assess how you're feeling. At the end of the 4 weeks, we will schedule a final call.

Sometimes emotions can be overwhelming and make you do things that you otherwise wouldn't.


Letting your anger, anxiety or jealousy (just as examples) dictate what you do can lead to actions and consequences that are far from what you want. 


Common signs that you are in emotional overwhelm are:

  • You're having a disproportionate reaction to insignificant situations. For example, you panic when you can't find something.  

  • You feel unwell or tired without knowing why.

  • You have trouble focusing or completing even simple tasks.

  • You find yourself drawing back from friends and family.

  • Your emotions shade your perception of the world. For example, intense anger may have you feeling upset even during pleasant occasions.


But extinguishing your feelings can cut you off from who you are. Who wants to be mechanical like that? The trouble is that our emotions can be compelling things. They can feel quite overwhelming. When a powerful feeling becomes aroused, it can feel as if you've been taken over. Everything outside of that emotion disappears. In those moments, it's like the only thing that seems to matter. Almost like you can't think of anything else.

The evolutionary background of feelings

There are great evolutionary reasons why you feel an 'emotion.' Your body is experiencing certain chemicals, that are triggered by events and situations around you, to get you to do something.


Notice the word 'emotion' contains the word 'motion,' i.e. movement. So Emotions are there to create action. However, too much emotion can overwhelm your judgment beyond a point where you can't think straight.


Its great news is that you don't have to be at the mercy of your primitive responses forever. You can learn to control and manage your emotional reactions. They are there to tell you what you need to know about how you feel, but not let them rule you. How?
